The Maplewood is one of the original cottages at Goose Rocks Beach, built in the early 1900’s when the trip up from Boston by horse and carriage took all day!

Goose Rocks Beach is part of Kennebunkport, but is a world of its own.  It’s a 10-minute drive to the bustle of Dock Square, in the heart of Kennebunkport, and its many restaurants and shops.

The Maplewood has 5 bedrooms:  East Room—king bed; Blue Room—queen bed; Captain’s room—two twins; Pink Room—queen and twin beds; and a downstairs bedroom with a twin. Barn – queen bed.  The house has large windows that the sun pours through upstairs.  The upstairs bedrooms have beautiful ocean views, and you can fall asleep at night to the sound of the surf.

There are 2-1/2 baths, plus a large, enclosed private outdoor shower that really feels like vacation!  One of the full bathrooms was built in 2012; it’s lovely and fits right in with the house’s style and charm.  The kitchen is large, eat-in, with two tables and a pantry with lots of cupboard space.  It’s well-equipped, especially for lobster feasts!  The dining room is big enough for all; the living room has a flat screen TV, roku, dvd player, and a hutch with lots of family games.  There’s a laundry room with washer and dryer, and wireless internet access throughout the house and barn.

Perhaps the most notable feature of the Maplewood is its long front porch.  You can enjoy your morning coffee, meals, or evening cocktails there, and the people watching is always fun.  There’s a screened porch, too, on the side of the house.

The barn, which is attached to the house, has a large open first floor, perfect for all your beach gear, with lots of drying racks and hooks for beach towels.  It has seating and a ping pong table too.  Also makes a great dance space!  The barn was an art gallery for many years in its previous life.  The barn loft upstairs has spectacular ocean views and breezes, and is a great hangout for teenagers.
